Los Kombi started in 2020...
By founding members Cesar and Jose, who met while working together at Panera Bread in Victorville, Ca. It was there they first started talking about and eventually playing music together. They would play for other employees and eventually decided to start making original music and form a band.
After jamming together for some time, they decided to look for other musicians to fill out their group. Cesar and Jose would attend open mic nights and karaoke nights to hopefully find likeminded musicians. One night they stumbled upon a blues band, hearing the music from the parking lot. They entered the bar and saw Rick playing the drums. At that moment, both Jose and Cesar knew they had found their drummer. They spoke to him after his set, asking if he was down to jam. After the first session he was in the band and has been along for the ride ever since. Rick’s school bus serves as the practice space for the band, and he seems to always have the exact gear and equipment needed to save the day.
Los Kombi has had a revolving door of bass players over the years, until the beginning of 2023 when Chris joined the band. He’s been a reliable and perfect fit. He’s into all of the same things as the other members, and they’ve become fast friends. Chris has helped the band advance and grow, and his joining has really buttoned up their sound and expertise. It took Los Kombi three years to become the powerhouse of a band that they are, but it was well worth the wait!

Started singing when I was a child, played guitar since I was 14.
My influences are classic and 90’s rock, like Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, etc. Then it evolved into artists like City & Colour, Bon Iver, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, The Smiths, Arctic Monkeys, Mac Demarco, Beach House. Also grew up listening to a lot of Spanish pop and Regional Mexicano, artists like Juanes, Jose Jose, Juan Gabriel, Banda El Recodo, Los Cadetes De Linares. But what influenced me to start making music and join a band were the Indie artists coming out of the SoCal/LA scene like The Buttertones, Jurassic Shark, The Growlers, SadGirl, The Frights, Banes World, Los Retros, etc.

Been playing music since I was 12.
My musical influences are wide and varied, ranging from my friend’s music to the biggest names in pop music. Some artists who greatly shaped my early years include Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Cursive, The Smiths, and Elliott Smith. However, I believe that I'm influenced by all kinds of music I come across. I have a deep appreciation for the diversity and creativity in music.

I listen to a lot different genres. I like to think that I can pull inspiration from all the music that I enjoy listening to, but if I had to pick certain genres that have heavily influenced my playing I would have to say Hip-hop and progressive rock. From the more mainstream to the underground rap scenes, I’ve listened to a lot of hip-hop/rap growing up and it’s always been a big part of my life. Artists that I would highlight would be J Dilla, Rahki, Nujabes, and Madlib. Also one of my all time inspirations for rock drumming would have to be Joh Theodore from The Mars Volta and Queens of the Stone Age.
